The Gospel of Luke: Investigating Jesus | Week 1
SMALL GROUP QUESTIONS:
1. Have you ever gone down a research rabbit hole—like reading every review before buying something, or watching a bunch of videos to understand something better? What was it, and what did you discover?
2. Luke opens his Gospel by saying he "carefully investigated everything from the beginning." Why do you think it matters that the story of Jesus is based on investigation and eyewitnesses—not just feelings or rumors?
3. What does it tell you about God that He inspired a Gospel writer like Luke—a doctor, a researcher—to give us an orderly account of Jesus' life?
4. Luke wrote “so that you may know the certainty of the things you have been taught.” What doubts or questions have you had (or do you still have) about Jesus or the Bible? How does Luke’s approach invite you to explore rather than hide those doubts?
5. Think about the people in your life who are curious about Jesus but not yet convinced. How might Luke’s Gospel help open a conversation with them?
6. Have you ever had a moment when something about Jesus suddenly became more real or clear to you? What led to that shift?
7. Luke didn’t witness everything himself—he relied on those who did. Why do you think God often works through the testimony of others to reveal truth?
8. If you were to write your own short "orderly account" of how you came to know Jesus, what would it include?
9. Luke took time, effort, and care to help others understand Jesus. What could it look like for you to take a next step in investigating Jesus for yourself—or helping someone else do the same?
10. Luke invites us to build our lives on something solid—not vague belief, but the truth about Jesus. What’s one thing you’ll do this week to investigate Jesus more deeply—whether that’s reading Luke, asking questions, or sharing what you’ve found with someone else?
