SMALL GROUP QUESTIONS:

1. Tell us about a time when your first impression of someone turned out to be completely wrong.

2. In the Home Alone clip, Kevin believed rumors about Old Man Marley. Why do you think it's so easy to believe what we've heard about someone instead of getting to know them ourselves?

3. Read 1 Samuel 16:1–13. What stands out to you most about this passage?

4. God told Samuel, "People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart." Why is it so natural for us to judge by appearances?

5. Have you ever been judged by your appearance, reputation, or a mistake from your past? How did that affect you?

6. David was overlooked by his own family. Have you ever felt overlooked, underestimated, or forgotten? How does David's story encourage you?

7. The sermon said, "God is more interested in building your character than promoting your platform." What do you think that means? How have you seen that play out in your own life?

8. Jesus consistently looked beyond people's labels and saw who they could become. Who is someone in Scripture that demonstrates this truth, and what can we learn from their story?

9. Are there any people or groups you've found yourself making assumptions about? What makes it difficult to see them the way Jesus does?

10. This week, ask God to help you see one person through His eyes instead of through assumptions, appearances, or past experiences. Intentionally have a conversation with that person or encourage them in a meaningful way.
