One Life Church | Plattsmouth, NE | At the Movies | Week 2
SMALL GROUP QUESTIONS:
1. What’s a movie or story that has stuck with you because it felt meaningful or “bigger than just entertainment”?
2. The sermon says we’re drawn to epic stories because they echo “THE story” God is telling. What do you think that means? How do you see that in movies or culture?
3. Read Ezekiel 22:30 (NLT) out loud together. What do you think it means that God is looking for someone to “stand in the gap”?
4. The sermon describes culture as “trenches” where people are stuck and divided. Where do you see those kinds of trenches in your relationships, workplace, school, or community?
5. Read Ephesians 6:12 out loud together. How does this change the way we understand who the “real enemy” is in conflict?
6. The preacher shared stories (Christmas Truce, behavioral hospital, Wonder Woman) showing people stepping into difficult spaces. What keeps us from moving toward people who are hurting or on the “other side”?
7. Read 2 Corinthians 11:14 out loud together. How can truth sometimes be distorted in ways that still sound convincing today?
8. Read Psalm 119:105 out loud together. What does it look like practically for God’s Word to be your “map” in daily decisions?
9. The sermon said we often feel responsible to “save the world,” but only Jesus can do that. What’s the difference between being faithful in today’s moment and trying to carry too much weight?
10. Read Matthew 6:34 out loud together. What does Jesus’ teaching about “today” challenge in your own anxiety, planning, or control?
11. Which of the “Next Steps” do you most need right now?
- Identify your “no man’s land” and take one step toward someone
- Commit to reading Scripture 10 minutes a day before your phone
- Release a burden you’ve been trying to control
