SMALL GROUP QUESTIONS:

1. What’s a movie, book, or story you remember from childhood that made you stop and think about who you are or where you come from? (Bonus: If you’ve seen Star Wars, how did you react to the line “I am your father”?)

2. Read Ephesians 3:14–15. What do you think Paul is trying to show us by describing God as the source of all fatherhood?

3. How has your experience with your earthly father (or the absence of one) shaped the way you relate to God? Are there any views of God you’ve had to challenge or change because of that?

4. The sermon said, “God is not the reflection of your earthly dad; He is the perfection of what a father is meant to be.” What qualities of God as Father are most healing or meaningful to you personally?

5. Read Galatians 4:6 and John 1:12. What do these verses say about your identity in God’s family? How does that compare to how you see yourself day to day?

6. Which of the following truths about God as Father stood out to you most? Why? And how does that truth speak into your current season of life?

He adopted me – Ephesians 1:5

He loves me – 1 John 3:1

He forgives me – Psalm 103:12

He fills me when I’m empty – Ephesians 3:19

He stays near – Deuteronomy 4:7

He provides – Matthew 7:11

He keeps His promises – Deuteronomy 7:9

He fulfills His purpose for me – Psalm 57:2

He has my best in mind – Psalm 139:16–19

He’s faithful – 1 Corinthians 1:9

7. What obstacles or lies tend to make you forget or doubt that God is a good Father to you? What helps ground you in His love again?

8. If you truly lived each day knowing you are fully loved, fully adopted, and fully welcomed by your Heavenly Father… what would change? What’s one step you can take this week to live more like a child of God — in your prayer life, relationships, or even in how you see yourself?
