Jonah | Week 1
SMALL GROUP QUESTIONS:
1. In everyday life, when have you seen someone “get what they deserve” and felt a sense of satisfaction?
2. Have you ever been surprised—or maybe even offended—by someone receiving mercy when you thought they should face consequences?
3. Based on what you know about Nineveh and the Assyrians, why would God’s call be so hard for Jonah to accept?
4. Who or what group today might represent a “Nineveh” in your life—someone you’d struggle to show grace to?
5. Jonah didn’t run because he feared failure—he ran because he feared God’s mercy. Why can that be harder to accept than failure?
6. What are some ways we might “run from God” today without physically boarding a ship?
7. Can you think of a time when God allowed disruption in your life to draw you back to Him?
8. Jonah admits who God is, yet still resists His will. Why is it sometimes possible to believe the right things about God but not live them out?
9. Jonah resisted God’s mission, but the sailors still came to faith. What does this teach us about God’s ability to work despite our disobedience?
10. How can remembering God’s grace toward you help you extend grace to others this week?
