Jonah | Week 4
SMALL GROUP QUESTIONS:
1. Have you ever had a time when your emotions felt totally out of control? What happened and how did you handle it?
2. Why do you think Jonah became so angry when God showed mercy to Nineveh?
3. What does Jonah’s reaction teach us about the difference between doing God’s will and sharing God’s heart?
4. When have you found yourself going through the motions spiritually but your heart wasn’t really in it?
5. Jonah cared more about the plant than the people. What “plants” or comforts might distract you from God’s mission?
6. How do you relate to Jonah’s emotional swings—joy one moment, despair the next?
7. Can you think of a time when God’s discipline (the “worm”) actually grew you, even though it was painful?
8. How does Jesus, the “greater Jonah,” give us hope when we fail to love others the way God calls us to?
9. Which of the four applications from the sermon (surrender emotions, seek God’s heart, choose mission over comfort, remember God’s character) do you need most right now?
10. What’s one step you can take this week to move from Jonah’s heart to Jesus’ heart—and how can we pray for you in that?
